To legally operate x-ray equipment to perform dental and medical radiographic procedures in Delaware, an individual must either hold a national credential OR pass a state certification examination approved by the Authority on Radiation Protection (the Authority). The Authority has approved state certification examinations to qualify individuals to legally perform certain limited scope x-ray procedures in Delaware.
There are three State Level Exams approved by the Authority on Radiation Protection:
State licensed practitioners such as chiropractors, dentists, physicians (MD, DO), podiatrists, veterinarians, and dental hygienists are exempt from state certification by the Authority on Radiation Protection, and are governed by their respective state licensing board, as listed on the Delaware Division of Professional Regulation webpage: http://dpr.delaware.gov/
